Dubai, United Arab Emirates German technology giant Wilo and Masdar, the pioneer in renewable energy in the United Arab Emirates, have inked a collaboration agreement to advance energy efficiency and sustainable energy solutions throughout the Middle East and beyond, marking a significant step in the global energy revolution.
The agreement was signed during a high-profile ceremony at Wilo’s newly expanded manufacturing facility in Dubai. The event was attended by Hendrik Wüst, Minister-President of North Rhine-Westphalia, who is on a four-day trade mission to the Gulf region, alongside Wilo Group President and CEO Oliver Hermes, Masdar’s Director of Global Offshore Wind & UK Husain Al Meer, and Wilo AMEA Regional CEO Jens Dallendörfer.
This partnership demonstrates a common dedication to addressing the world’s energy dilemma in two ways: increasing the production of renewable energy while also increasing energy efficiency through cutting-edge technologies.
Oliver Hermes stated that merely integrating green power into the grid is not enough to address the world’s energy scarcity. We also need to make good use of that energy. This agreement reflects our conviction that simultaneous attention to generation and consumption is necessary for a real energy transition.
Husain Al Meer echoed the importance of the partnership, citing the synergy between Masdar’s clean energy expertise and Wilo’s technological capabilities in sustainable manufacturing, heating, and cooling. “This collaboration is a testament to our shared vision for a smarter, more efficient energy future and deepens Masdar’s investment relationship with Germany – a key strategic market,” he stated.
Minister-President Hendrik Wüst commended Wilo’s transformation from a traditional industrial player to a global sustainability leader, noting its role in reshaping North Rhine-Westphalia’s identity. “Wilo represents how regions like ours, once built on coal, are now helping drive the shift toward climate-neutral industry – from Dortmund to Dubai,” he said.
The deal is a major step toward enhancing industrial collaboration between Germany and the United Arab Emirates and furthering sustainable development objectives.
