Doha, Qatar: Two sustainability experts from Qatar have been recognized in the Top 100 Middle East “Energy Addition” Sustainability Voices 2026 for their significant contributions to climate action and the energy transition.
The honourees are Neeshad Shafi, Climate Policy Expert and Manager – Engagement Offsets Capital, and Dr. Aisha Al Rumaihi, Senior HSE Monitoring and Reporting Analyst at QatarEnergy.
Speaking to The Peninsula, Shafi emphasized that the recognition reflects Qatar’s growing dedication to climate sustainability. He stated, “I am honored to be recognized among these individuals. This demonstrates that Qatar is actively advancing its commitment to climate sustainability, keeping pace with other nations.”
Shafi, co-founder of the Arab Youth Climate Movement Qatar, highlighted his upcoming project, “Climate Financing,” which aims to strengthen Qatar’s regional ecosystem. He added that his NGO has been working closely with community leaders to identify key challenges and engage the private sector as a driving force for sustainability initiatives. He emphasized that government entities, private sectors, and youth all have essential roles in achieving climate goals.
Dr. Al Rumaihi, known for her leadership in sustainability and environmental strategy, noted that the recognition carries added responsibility. “This award motivates me to do more,” she said. “My next initiative will focus on engaging youth through social media to spread awareness about climate sustainability. The next generation is crucial for achieving sustainability, and social media is the platform where they can be reached effectively.”
The Top 100 list, compiled by Gulf Intelligence, is based on nominations from the 2025 edition, ensuring that it highlights trusted expertise in sustainability.
This special “Energy Addition” edition celebrates policymakers, innovators, and industry leaders whose efforts are helping the Middle East meet rising global energy demand while accelerating progress towards decarbonization.
