The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) recently hosted officials from South Korean energy businesses to learn more about the organization’s accomplishments in the clean and renewable energy space. They looked at DEWA’s most recent inventions and technology that have helped to advance renewable energy projects during this tour.
Tour of DEWA’s Solar Park and Sustainability & Innovation Centre
The group visited DEWA’s Sustainability and Innovation Centre and the Research and Development (R&D) Centre at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park under the direction of Sung Soo Kim Su, Senior Vice President of Global Sae-A Group. Operating under the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model, this solar park is the biggest single-site solar energy project in the world with a 2030 energy production target of over 5,000 megawatts.
DEWA’s Green Hydrogen Initiative: A Significant Regional Development
Officials from DEWA’s R&D Centre provided information about the Green Hydrogen project during the visit. This innovative project uses solar energy to create hydrogen, the first of its type in the Middle East and North Africa. The project can store hydrogen for up to twelve hours and uses renewable energy to electrolyse water. Additionally, it provides a platform for testing hydrogen applications in a variety of sectors, such as transportation and energy.
The Sustainability and Innovation Centre at DEWA is a hub for innovation.
Delegates from South Korea learnt about DEWA’s function as a global hub for clean energy innovation at the Sustainability and Innovation Centre. By enabling visitors to investigate state-of-the-art clean energy technology, the Centre solidifies DEWA’s position as a pioneer in sustainable energy innovation.
