Khartoum, Sudan – Al-Sadafin Center for Renewable Energy has launched its inaugural training program, marking the establishment of what is being described as Sudan’s first dedicated renewable energy training center. The initiative began on Wednesday with a specialized course in Photovoltaic Solar Energy Systems Engineering at the Faculty of Computer Science, Karari University – Banat.
Dr. Jaafar Ahmed Khalifa, founder of Al-Sadafin Center for Renewable Energy, said the program is designed for engineers seeking to build professional careers in the rapidly expanding solar energy sector. The curriculum follows the standards of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), aiming to equip participants with internationally recognized technical expertise.
The center has introduced five specialized training programs covering key areas of renewable energy and sustainable technologies. These include Solar Energy Systems Engineering for engineers and technical specialists, Biomass Energy and Biodigester for engineering professionals, Renewable Energy Solutions for engineers, policymakers, and government procurement and service offices, an Official Decision Support Program for Solar Energy Projects targeting government committees and decision-makers, and Electric Vehicle Engineering and Hydrogen Cell Trucks for engineers and technicians.
According to the center, the training programs were developed to address technical gaps in the installation, operation, and maintenance of solar energy systems that have emerged as Sudan has experienced rapid growth in renewable energy adoption over the past two years.
The launch ceremony was attended by senior officials, including the Secretary General of the Engineering Council, the Secretary General of the National Training Council, the Director of Karari University, the Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science, and other representatives from the engineering and education sectors.
Al-Sadafin Center for Renewable Energy said it aims to become a leading institution for renewable energy education in Sudan, with plans to expand into a full academic institution in the near future.
