Smart Agriculture in UAE

Smart agriculture is the future of agriculture. This concept involves using modern technology to optimize the quantity and quality of agricultural products. Currently, farmers have at their disposal technologies such as GPS, soil scanning technologies, sophisticated data management systems, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices.

Why Smart Agriculture?

In our current world, farmers must be more than passionate landowners. They must be data analysts, economists, accountants, and legal experts who can negotiate a complicated web of rules. Competency in accounting and a thorough comprehension of market dynamics and pricing variations are prerequisites for success in the agricultural sales industry.

Hence, farmers have no choice but to adopt smart agriculture. Farmers may apply pesticides and fertilizers more effectively and precisely by carefully examining field variances and modifying their techniques appropriately.

Illnesses Prevention

Similarly, by using Smart Farming techniques, farmers may precisely modify feeding schedules to ward off illnesses and advance the general health of their herd by keeping a close eye on each animal’s unique demands.

Maximize Productivity

Smart agriculture helps maximize productivity. For example, smart agriculture can boost production efficiency and save expenses when farmers use a fertilizer solution that has all the necessary components, including light, water, and minerals.

Eliminate Purification Processes

Another important benefit of smart agriculture is the removal of the need for purifying procedures. Smart agriculture works well in confined indoor spaces, keeping illnesses, insects, and weeds at bay. That means there’s less need for chemical additives like pesticides, which means less harm to the environment and less money spent.

Smart Agriculture in UAE

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has made advancements in agricultural technology. The country has expedited the adoption of cutting-edge technology and applications under the direction of visionary leaders. This shows in the numerous projects and plans the country has adopted over the years. These innovations have the potential to improve food security and support the economy. The nation is actively involved in programs designed to use cutting-edge technology to improve agriculture and water conservation.

The COP28 UAE Declaration on Sustainable Agriculture, Resilient Food Systems, and Climate Action

UAE recently united nations around the world to develop food and agriculture systems. This was seen in the ‘COP28 UAE Declaration on Sustainable Agriculture, Resilient Food Systems, and Climate Action‘. This declaration emphasizes the commitment to providing sustainable agricultural solutions and promoting the development of comprehensive food systems.

In addition, it was announced that more than US$2.5 billion in financing will be raised to support initiatives to combat climate change and enhance food security. By 2030, 160 million hectares are expected to have switched to regenerative agriculture thanks to this effort.

The Declaration unites many parties, including Tanzania, Indonesia, the European Union, and others. Also, it represents a critical step toward addressing global emissions and preserving the health and livelihoods of farmers living in areas most affected by climate change.

Smart Agriculture Research Project

UAE has been actively involved in smart agriculture research projects. Last year, the country partnered with Korea to work on a smart agricultural research project. This project focused on using technology to regulate plant growth-affecting elements and identify illnesses in a timely manner.

Delegates from the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA), represented by the Applied Research and Capacity Building Division, traveled to Korea for a scientific conference. The conference’s purpose was to assess experimental results and research discoveries related to two joint projects between ADAFSA and the Republic of Korea’s Rural Development Department.

Final Words

In the current world we live in, technology has been helpful in different areas and sectors. Smart agriculture can shake up things in the global agricultural sector. The United Arab Emirates has been involved in employing smart agriculture for food production and sustainability.
