A New Fund to Encourage the Installation of Renewable Energy
A €20 million ($20.9 million) fund has been announced by Borzen, Slovenia’s state-owned electricity market operator, to assist with the installation of renewable energy equipment. Heat pumps, solar thermal collectors, wind farms, wood biomass boilers, and storage tanks connected to new industrial facilities will all receive subsidies through the funding program. The subsidy program will begin accepting applications on March 18, 2025.
Funding Eligibility Requirements
The incentive will only be available for new installations, Borzen said. The grant will specifically cover solar thermal collectors and heat pumps that generate heat from renewable sources and have a thermal output between 50 kW and 10 MW. This program will not fund the expansion or capacity increases of already-existing facilities.
Who May Apply?
Companies, cooperatives, individuals, and self-governing local communities are all eligible for the subsidy program. Once the application process starts, interested candidates can submit their requests using Borzen’s online portal.
Slovenia’s Dedication to Sustainable Energy
Slovenia’s renewable energy industry has been growing rapidly. Reports earlier this month verified the nation’s 2024 solar power addition of 298.8 MW. Furthermore, a €16 million ($16.6 million) program was introduced in January by the Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development to assist towns that use solar energy for installations that are at least 100 kW in size.
