HH Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi’s Keynote Address
The second RAK Energy Summit got underway at the Al Hamra International Exhibition & Conference Center under the auspices of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah and Member of the UAE Supreme Council. HH “Energy is central to our lives and our economy and, without it, we can neither survive nor thrive,” Sheikh Saud said, underscoring the importance of energy in propelling both survival and advancement. He emphasized initiatives to establish the Emirate as a world leader in sustainable energy development and emphasized Ras Al Khaimah’s dedication to sustainability.

Highlights of the UAE’s Energy Strategy for 2050
The ambitious UAE Energy Strategy 2050 was presented by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates. HE Eng Saif Ghubash outlined plans to increase energy efficiency by 45% by 2050, invest AED 200 billion by 2030, and triple the contribution of renewable energy. With these efforts, the UAE hopes to establish itself as a world leader in low-carbon and sustainable energy.
Business Perspectives on Sustainability
The CEO of Tabreed, Khalid Al Marzooqi, emphasized the significance of the conference in facilitating choices that may be implemented to promote environmental and economic advancement in the Northern Emirates.
Aldar’s executive director for sustainability, Salwa Al Maflahi, reaffirmed the company’s dedication to sustainability, highlighting its expanding presence in Ras Al Khaimah and aligning with the UAE’s net-zero aspirations.
Schneider Electric’s President for Gulf Countries, Amel Chadli, spoke about how digital and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies can speed up energy transitions and improve urban and business efficiency.
Day 1 Panels and Conversations
Keynote speakers and panels discussing sustainable mobility and city-level energy transition initiatives were presented on the first day. HE Yousif Al Ali from Etihad Water and Electricity, Dr. Mohammed Al Kalbani from Oman’s Authority for Public Services Regulation, and Eng. Salah Al Rashidi from Kuwait Municipality were among the distinguished speakers. Sessions also looked at the contributions made by UITP, Marjan, and RAK Ceramics.
Highlights of Day 2 Previewed
Future fuels, grids, and decarbonization techniques for challenging industries will be discussed on Day 2. Key highlights will include international viewpoints from HE Francesco La Camera of IRENA and Lucas Boehlé of the IEA, as well as federal views from HE Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure. The UAE Ministry of Energy & Infrastructure’s Energy Management Awards, which honor excellence in energy management, will also be announced on the same day.

Concerning Reem and Ras Al Khaimah Municipality
Ras Al Khaimah Municipality was founded in 1959 and has been instrumental in creating a sustainable environment for people to live and work in. The municipality’s Reem Energy Efficiency and Renewables Office is in charge of the RAK Energy Efficiency and Renewables Strategy 2040, which aims to generate 20% renewable energy, 30% energy, and 20% water savings by that year.
