Dubai, UAE – April 2025 – Renewable energy took center stage as Pakistani exhibitors joined over 1,600 global companies at Middle East Energy (MME) 2025, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The event showcased cutting-edge clean mobility and smart technology solutions, with Pakistani energy experts emphasizing that sustainable alternatives are the future.
Solar Solutions Addressing Global Energy Crises
Babar Shahzad, Director of Shahzad Pumps, highlighted the urgent need for renewable energy, particularly in regions like Africa and the Middle East facing severe power shortages. His company’s solar-powered submersible pumps—requiring no converters or inverters—offer an efficient, cost-effective solution.
“With rising electricity and fuel prices, the shift to solar is inevitable,” Shahzad told Business Recorder at the three-day exhibition. Having served markets in Pakistan, Africa, and the Middle East for nearly 50 years, Shahzad Pumps stays ahead by continuously innovating. “Without technological advancements, survival in this industry is impossible,” he added.
Fast Cables: Expanding Beyond Power Solutions
Events like MME have a significant impact on the industry and are about more than just sales, according to Ali Shahzad, Business Development Manager at Fast Cables. The business, which has historically produced power cables, recently ventured into the LED lighting industry after spotting a market need in Pakistan.
“We deliver high-quality LED solutions at competitive prices, matching global brands,” he explained. Positive domestic response has now propelled their LED exports to international markets.
Overcoming Export Challenges
Global expansion presents challenges for PEL, a prominent transformer producer in Pakistan. Export Business Development Manager Jawad Khalid noted that complicated export taxes and banking processes disadvantage Pakistani companies in comparison to rivals like Turkey, which has lower US tariffs.
Despite these challenges, PEL has broken into the US market by adapting to IEEE standards and pursuing UL certification. “We’re navigating trade uncertainties, but our commitment to quality keeps us competitive,” Khalid noted.
Osaka Batteries: Powering the EV Revolution
Osaka Batteries, part of the ACM Group, is making strides in renewable energy with lead-acid and graphene EV batteries for motorbikes. While electric bikes are still gaining traction in Pakistan, the UAE’s booming delivery sector presents a lucrative opportunity.
The company is also investing in lead recycling and plans to establish a lithium-ion battery plant in Pakistan, aligning with global sustainability trends.

Supported by the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, MME 2025 brought together over 150 energy leaders to discuss AI-driven solutions and global market dynamics. For Pakistani exhibitors, the event underscored both their potential and the challenges they must overcome to compete on the world stage.
