Polish renewable hydrogen developer Hynfra PSA has selected US-based electrolyser manufacturer Ohmium International as a key technology partner for a series of large-scale green hydrogen and ammonia projects in Mauritania, Jordan, and Oman.
The companies announced on Wednesday that they have signed a master cooperation agreement aimed at advancing the projects through their development stages. The agreement includes front-end engineering and design (FEED) services and provides a framework for broader collaboration as the projects progress.
As part of the partnership, Ohmium will supply technical expertise and support related to its proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyser technology during both the FEED and development phases. The planned facilities are expected to produce green hydrogen and green ammonia, with potential exports targeted at European markets.
Hynfra is developing multi-billion-dollar green hydrogen and ammonia ventures across the three countries. Its most advanced initiative is located in Jordan, where the company and its joint venture partner, Fidelity Group, are working on a green ammonia plant in the port city of Aqaba.
In Oman, the Green Ammonia Oman (GAO) project is planned near the port of Duqm, while in Mauritania, Hynfra intends to establish a green ammonia production complex close to the capital, Nouakchott.
Hynfra Chief Executive Officer Tomoho Umeda said the company follows a diversified technology strategy by working with multiple suppliers across its portfolio. He noted that Hynfra maintains at least two qualified providers in each technology category, with Ohmium serving as one of its selected PEM electrolyser partners.
According to Umeda, this approach reflects the scale and complexity of the company’s green hydrogen ambitions.
Ohmium CEO Markus Tacke described the agreement as an important step in the company’s expansion into the Middle East and Africa. He said the partnership combines Hynfra’s development expertise with Ohmium’s electrolyser technology to accelerate large-scale green hydrogen and green ammonia production in the region.
