The 49th edition of Middle East Energy (MEE) 2025 has officially opened its doors at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), placing energy storage and battery technologies at the forefront of global conversations on sustainability and the clean energy transition. This year’s expo is the biggest and most ambitious in the event’s nearly five-decade history, and it is sponsored by the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.
A Visionary Opening
H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, inaugurated the event, underlining the UAE’s continued rise as a global model for clean energy leadership. Backed by the strategic direction of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the country is positioning itself at the center of the world’s energy evolution.

Battery Tech in the Spotlight
The Battery Show, a specialised platform examining how battery innovation is driving the next wave of green mobility and grid transformation, is making its debut concurrently with MEE 2025. A keynote address on the critical role that public-private cooperation plays in speeding up the deployment of energy storage and electric vehicle technologies kicked off the launch edition.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, took the stage at the event’s Leadership Summit to unveil the UAE’s ambitious strategy to build one of the world’s cleanest energy grids by 2030. Anchored by mega-renewable projects in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the initiative is seen as a cornerstone of the region’s sustainability agenda.

Over 40,000 energy professionals and more than 500 top-tier buyers are expected to attend the three-day event, which features 1,600 exhibitors from over 90 countries. Sixteen expansive halls—including 17 national pavilions—are showcasing the full energy value chain: from power generation and smart grids to storage technologies and clean mobility solutions.
Mark Ring, Group Director of Energy Events at Informa Markets, the event organizer, emphasized the strategic significance of this year’s edition.

Market analysts project the Middle East and Africa’s battery market to surge to $9.98 billion by 2029, propelled by supportive policies and a regional shift toward electrification.
Storage innovations are woven throughout the broader MEE agenda. From hybrid backup power systems to advanced smart energy management, the exhibition emphasizes how modern storage solutions are enhancing grid resilience and flexibility across the region.
Six Conferences, One Vision
Complementing the Battery Show are six concurrent conferences tackling the energy sector’s most pressing challenges. These include the Middle East Energy Leadership Summit, IEEE-powered Technical Seminar, Global Innovation Forum, Intersolar & ees Middle East Conference, and the Africa Business Leaders Forum.
