Jakarta, Indonesia — Global solar technology leader LONGi has announced a strategic partnership with Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE), the green energy arm of Indonesia’s state-owned energy giant, Pertamina. Together, the two companies will develop a 1.6-gigawatt (GW) solar panel manufacturing facility in West Java, marking a major milestone in Southeast Asia’s renewable energy landscape.

The joint venture aims to boost Indonesia’s solar production capacity, support its clean energy ambitions, and accelerate the region’s shift toward a more sustainable energy future.

High-Tech Solar Manufacturing Hub in West Java

The facility will be located in Deltamas, West Java, and is expected to become operational by mid-2025. Once completed, it will feature an annual production capacity of 1.6 GW and will utilize LONGi’s cutting-edge Hybrid Passivated Back Contact (HPBC) 2.0 technology, which enables the production of high-efficiency solar modules.

This investment underscores Indonesia’s growing appeal as a renewable energy manufacturing base and demonstrates the country’s readiness to play a larger role in global clean energy supply chains.

The announcement comes at a critical time for Indonesia, which has laid out ambitious renewable energy goals in its Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) 2025–2034. The plan targets the installation of 17.1 GW of new solar PV capacity over the next decade, a major scale-up from current levels.

By establishing domestic solar production capacity, the LONGi–Pertamina NRE partnership aims to play a pivotal role in helping Indonesia meet these targets, while also enhancing energy security and reducing reliance on imported solar technologies.

The new plant will not only serve domestic demand but also supply solar modules to neighboring Southeast Asian markets, positioning Indonesia as a regional manufacturing hub.
