Hygreen Energy has announced the creation of the Middle East Electrolysers Company, a new joint venture formed in partnership with the Green Electrodes Consortium for Industry (GECI). The JV will be headquartered in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province and is designed to accelerate the local manufacturing and deployment of advanced electrolyser systems.
The initiative aims to meet the rapidly growing demand for high-efficiency electrolyser technologies across Saudi Arabia, the Gulf region, and the wider Middle East and North Africa. By building local production capabilities, the JV is expected to play a key role in supporting the expansion of green hydrogen projects throughout the region.
The new company aligns closely with national strategies such as Saudi Vision 2030 and the Ministry of Energy’s National Hydrogen Strategy, both of which emphasize clean energy development and industrial innovation. As part of its long-term plan, the JV will also work on technology transfer, establish a dedicated research and development centre, and collaborate with Saudi universities and research organisations to deliver specialized training programs. These efforts are aimed at strengthening the country’s technical capacity and increasing local participation in the green energy sector.
In a related development, Stargate Hydrogen signed an MoU in September 2025 with Saudi Arabia’s Research, Development, and Innovation (RDI) Authority. Supported by Apex Ventures under RDI’s Global Startups Attraction Programme with the Ministry of Investment, this agreement focuses on advancing green hydrogen technology cooperation, promoting technology transfer, enhancing the regional hydrogen value chain, and contributing to industrial carbon reduction efforts across several key areas.
