In a major step towards sustainable energy adoption, Emerge—a joint venture between Masdar and EDF Group—and UAE-based energy firm Turbotim have signed an agreement to deploy an integrated solar and battery energy storage project at Turbotim’s facilities in Ras Al Khaimah. The announcement was made during the Make it in the Emirates Forum.
The project will feature a 1.52 megawatts peak (MWp) rooftop solar photovoltaic system, paired with a 5 megawatt-hour (MWh) battery energy storage system (BESS). It will be executed as two identical hybrid installations, each comprising 763kWp of solar capacity and 2.5MWh of storage. Emerge will deliver a full turnkey solution—covering financing, design, procurement, construction, operations, and maintenance—under a 20-year contract.
Currently reliant on diesel generators, Turbotim aims to significantly reduce its carbon footprint and energy costs through this transition. The project is expected to cut more than 2.1 million tons of CO₂ emissions annually—comparable to the yearly electricity use of 240 households or removing 474 gasoline-powered cars from circulation.

Established in 2021, Emerge specializes in distributed solar, battery storage, off-grid, and hybrid energy solutions for commercial and industrial sectors. The company currently provides clean energy to over 40 sites across the GCC, spanning sectors such as education, hospitality, and manufacturing.
