In the Red Sea region of Saudi Arabia, Red Sea Global (RSG) has formally closed a major $1.5 billion agreement with a partnership that includes Masdar and EDF Group to build renewable energy-driven infrastructure for the upscale wellness resort Amaala.
Sustainable Advanced Renewable Energy System
Modern renewable energy technology will provide all of the power for the new Amaala complex, which is intended to run separately from Saudi Arabia’s national electrical grid. This system ensures a consistent energy supply for the facility by combining a powerful 700 MWh battery storage technology with a 250 MW photovoltaic solar power plant devoted to electricity generating.
Principal International Consortium Partners and Funding
The alliance is headed by the French energy firm EDF Group and Masdar of Abu Dhabi, with participation from the Paris-based Suez Company and Korea East-West Power Company. Prominent regional and global financial institutions, including First Abu Dhabi Bank, Emirates NBD, Riyad Bank, Saudi National Bank, and Alinma Bank, have joined forces to support the financing, which highlights the worldwide commitment to creating a completely sustainable Amaala destination.

All-inclusive Utility Infrastructure to Provide Continuous Services
The project is built with a variety of supporting infrastructure, including as wastewater treatment facilities, a desalination plant that can produce 37 million liters of pure drinking water per day, and transmission and distribution lines to ensure dependable power. These elements guarantee that the establishment offers continuous services for a flawless visitor experience.
A Standard for Eco-Friendly Luxury Travel
By drastically lowering carbon emissions, the Amaala project seeks to not only offer a luxurious experience but also to establish a standard for ecologically responsible travel. Compared to traditional infrastructure, it is anticipated to reduce over 350,000 tons of CO₂ emissions yearly, setting a new benchmark for sustainable luxury travel in the future.
