The “Global Energy Efficiency Alliance,” a ground-breaking project that aims to double global energy efficiency rates yearly by 2030, was unveiled by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at COP29 in Azerbaijan. The program, which builds on the momentum of the UAE’s “UAE Consensus” announced at COP28, aims to drastically cut carbon emissions and protect natural resources. The alliance was announced at events held at the UAE national pavilion at COP29 by Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI). Al Olama emphasized the UAE’s leadership role in promoting worldwide energy efficiency initiatives in an interview with the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
Al Olama called on stakeholders from all over the world to join the effort and help reach sustainability goals, saying, “The UAE will lead this alliance by sharing best practices, facilitating knowledge exchange, and fostering public-private partnerships.”
