Authority (DEWA) held two significant events in honour of the International Day of Clean Energy: “Women in Diplomacy” and “Renewables Talk.” Global efforts to adopt sustainable energy are highlighted by the yearly observance on January 26.
Dubai’s Sustainability Hub Events
These activities were held at DEWA’s Sustainability and Innovation Centre, which is located inside the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, in collaboration with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
Leading Figures in Attendance
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA; Francesco La Camera, Director-General of IRENA; and Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, UAE’s Minister of Climate Change and Environment, gave the introductory remarks. High-profile attendees at the event included multiple delegations including Dr. Nawal Al Hosany, the UAE’s Permanent Representative to IRENA.
Knowledge-Exchange Platforms
The two platforms, which were started by the UAE in partnership with IRENA, are instruments to improve global collaboration in sustainable energy initiatives. These programs encourage member states to share expertise, form partnerships, and transition to a fair energy system.
Renewables Talk: This meeting brings together energy professionals, diplomats, and IRENA to share best practices, highlight renewable energy projects, and exchange views.
Women in Diplomacy: This program recognises and elevates the contribution of women in renewable energy, creating a cooperative atmosphere to tackle climate issues and advance gender parity.
Important Takeaways from Leaders
Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak highlighted the importance of clean energy as a means of attaining long-term, low-carbon energy security and underlined the need for coordinated action to tackle climate change. She reaffirmed the UAE’s leadership in sustainable energy initiatives worldwide and its goal to achieving Net Zero by 2050.
“Clean energy is the only way to guarantee equitable development, sustainable progress, and environmental preservation for future generations,” she said.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer emphasised DEWA’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, highlighting Dubai’s standing as a world leader in renewable energy projects. Al Tayer said, “Our vision ensures a sustainable future for everyone, aligning with the UAE’s leadership in global climate action.”

In addition to thanking the UAE for their support, Francesco La Camera emphasised the value of renewable energy in tackling climate change, promoting development, and attaining energy equity. “We have the key to building a prosperous and sustainable future with renewable energy,” La Camera said.
