Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has launched DEWA International, a wholly owned independent subsidiary that will focus on developing energy and water infrastructure projects in international markets.

The new company is designed to extend Dubai’s expertise in utility infrastructure, sustainability, and digital transformation beyond the UAE by drawing on DEWA’s experience in delivering large-scale energy and water projects.

The announcement was made by HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, who described the initiative as a strategic move to bring Dubai’s successful infrastructure model to global markets.

He said the establishment of DEWA International will reinforce Dubai’s position as a global source of knowledge and expertise in energy, water, sustainability, and digital transformation.

The subsidiary will oversee the development of both conventional and renewable energy projects, collaborating with international partners while utilizing advanced technologies to address the evolving needs of the global energy and water sectors.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, said the new venture builds on the utility’s strong operational performance and financial stability. He noted that DEWA currently ranks first globally across 13 major utility performance indicators, in addition to leading two regional benchmarks covering electricity generation, transmission, distribution, and customer service.

Al Tayer added that DEWA’s success has been driven by innovation, operational efficiency, and sustained investment in advanced infrastructure.

In 2025, DEWA reported record financial results, with revenues reaching AED32.8 billion ($8.9 billion) and net profit after tax climbing to AED9.06 billion ($2.5 billion).

DEWA International has already begun identifying overseas investment opportunities, building a pipeline of projects, and forming strategic partnerships to support its international growth.

Through the new subsidiary, Dubai aims to share its expertise in reliable utility services, clean energy deployment, and sustainable infrastructure development with markets around the world.
