Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), a leading U.S. organization in electric power research and development, have reinforced their strategic partnership to drive innovation in renewable energy, network modernization, and energy storage solutions.
Strengthening Strategic Partnerships
The discussions took place during a visit by an EPRI delegation led by its President and CEO, Arshad Mansoor, to DEWA’s headquarters. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, welcomed the delegation alongside senior officials, including Waleed bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence, and Ghanem Al Qassim, Senior Manager – Solar Power.
The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation in research and development (R&D), sustainability, and technological advancements within the energy sector. Al Tayer reiterated DEWA’s commitment to collaborating with world-class research and innovation centers to build national expertise, promote climate action, and accelerate the energy transition through digital transformation.
Advancing Dubai’s Clean Energy Goals
This initiative aligns with DEWA’s long-term vision to promote sustainability and support the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050. These ambitious programs aim to generate 100% of Dubai’s energy from clean sources by mid-century, reinforcing the emirate’s position as a global leader in renewable energy.
Specialized Training and Innovation
As part of their collaboration, DEWA and EPRI will implement specialized programs focusing on smart grids, energy efficiency, asset management analysis, cybersecurity, and photovoltaic system integration. These initiatives are designed to equip DEWA employees with advanced skills, empower researchers and engineers, and facilitate knowledge exchange to stay at the forefront of industry developments.
