Cornex to Deliver 5.5 GWh of Energy Storage Technology to Saudi Arabia

5.5 GWh of Energy Storage

China-based Cornex New Energy has announced a major step in its global expansion by signing a strategic cooperation agreement to supply 5.5 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of advanced energy storage technology to Saudi Arabia. The deal marks a significant milestone for both Cornex and the Kingdom’s rapidly growing renewable energy sector.

Strategic Partnership and Project Scope

The agreement was concluded with Saudi-based Al Rajhi Electrical and Greengrid in Dammam. Under the partnership, Cornex will deliver large-scale energy storage products over the next three years, while Greengrid will support supply chain coordination and logistics. Cornex will also contribute its research, development, and manufacturing expertise to provide technical support for the construction of local production facilities in Saudi Arabia.

This collaboration reflects a broader strategy to strengthen localized energy infrastructure and build a sustainable ecosystem for energy storage solutions within the Kingdom.

Boosting Saudi Arabia’s Energy Transition

Saudi Arabia is accelerating its transition toward renewable energy as part of its Vision 2030 agenda, which aims to diversify the economy and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. Large-scale battery energy storage systems play a crucial role in stabilizing power grids, integrating solar and wind energy, and enhancing energy security.

By deploying 5.5 GWh of storage capacity, the Cornex project will help Saudi Arabia improve grid reliability and support the expansion of renewable energy generation across the country.

Cornex’s Growing Global Footprint

Cornex has been rapidly expanding its presence in international markets, driven by rising demand for energy storage solutions worldwide. The company has developed a wide range of battery technologies and energy storage systems, positioning itself as a key player in the global clean energy transition.

The Saudi deal further strengthens Cornex’s position in the Middle East—a region emerging as one of the fastest-growing markets for renewable energy and battery storage infrastructure.

Implications for the Global Energy Market

The 5.5 GWh agreement highlights the increasing scale of battery storage projects globally and the strategic importance of energy storage in modern power systems. As countries accelerate decarbonization efforts, partnerships like the Cornex–Saudi Arabia deal demonstrate how international collaboration can drive innovation, localization, and sustainable energy development.
