Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates At its production site in Al Ain, Coca-Cola Al Ahlia Beverages Company launched a state-of-the-art 1.8-megawatt solar power plant in partnership with Emerge, a joint venture between Masdar in the United Arab Emirates and EDF Group in France. The inauguration, which happened during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, was a major turning point in the business’s adoption of renewable energy and environmental responsibility.
In favor of the UAE’s Green Agenda 2030
The solar power project supports Coca-Cola Al Ahlia’s aim to lowering carbon emissions and dependency on conventional energy sources by being in line with the UAE’s Green Agenda 2030 and national sustainability goals. The plant, which makes use of cutting-edge technologies including bifacial panels, smart inverters, and real-time monitoring systems, highlights the area’s shift to creative sustainable energy solutions.
Energy Efficiency and Environmental Impact
Over 300 houses may be powered for a year thanks to the plant’s annual reduction of about 1,566 metric tons of CO₂ emissions. It will also save over 3,600 barrels of oil every year, which will help with energy efficiency and environmental preservation.

In key industries like food, beverages, and medicines, the program fosters self-sufficiency and strengthens local production capacities. Adoption of Renewable Energy Vision
Coca-Cola Al Ahlia Beverages Company CEO Banu Karakullukcu reaffirmed the company’s commitment to sustainability. “Our transition to sustainable energy is demonstrated by the solar installation at our Al Ain factory. We have been able to realize this vision by collaborating with Emerge, which has aided the UAE’s Green Agenda,” Karakullukcu stated. Currently, 18% of the plant’s energy needs are met by phase one of the project; by 2024, phase two is expected to raise this to 23%.
Long-Term Emerge Commitment
For 25 years, Emerge will oversee and run the solar energy installation, guaranteeing its continued dependability and efficiency. Emerge’s general manager, Michel Ali Saab, emphasized the project’s twin advantages in terms of business and environmental results. “This solar plant is a prime example of how creative energy solutions can assist businesses in achieving sustainability objectives while cutting expenses,” Saab added.
