Abu Dhabi, UAE – May 27, 2025 – Broaden Energy, a UAE-based clean tech firm, has signed a landmark 50-year land lease agreement with Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD) Group to build a cutting-edge green hydrogen manufacturing facility in KEZAD Area A (Al Ma’mourah). The announcement was made during the fourth edition of the Make it in the Emirates (MIITE) forum in Abu Dhabi.
Valued at AED455 million, the project represents the first phase of Broaden Energy’s large-scale manufacturing expansion in the UAE, following a strategic collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) unveiled last year.
Spanning 80,000 square meters, the facility will be the first integrated site in the region to combine local hydrogen generation, storage, and refueling infrastructure. Once operational, it is expected to create around 1,000 permanent direct jobs and provide sustainable energy solutions powered by hydrogen, solar, and wind.
Abdullah Al Hameli, CEO of Economic Cities and Free Zones, underscored the significance of the project for the UAE’s clean energy roadmap. “Renewable energy is at the heart of Abu Dhabi’s strategy to diversify its energy mix. This collaboration with Broaden Energy is a key step in supporting the development of innovative clean energy technologies, fully aligned with the UAE Energy Strategy 2050,” he said.
Adnan Sokolija, CEO of Broaden Energy, described the agreement as a defining moment in the company’s mission. “This partnership with KEZAD marks a major milestone in our effort to deliver hydrogen-powered solutions that contribute to the emirate’s sustainability goals and industrial progress,” he noted.
The initiative further cements KEZAD’s role as a hub for industrial innovation and supports Abu Dhabi’s broader objectives of economic diversification and environmental stewardship.
