A Move in the Direction of Sustainable Energy Solutions

A state-of-the-art 2.5 MW solar energy project has been implemented by TotalEnergies in collaboration with Al Masaood Energy, a prominent oil and gas contractor in the United Arab Emirates. This partnership marks a critical turning point in the region’s transition to renewable energy and is a component of Al Masaood’s Mega-Base development in the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi. TotalEnergies will offer a specially created solution to maximise energy efficiency and significantly reduce emissions.

Long-Term Collaboration for Renewable Development

Over the course of the 25-year agreement, TotalEnergies will install about 4,200 photovoltaic (PV) panels, which should produce 4.2 GWh of power yearly. Approximately 1,800 tonnes of CO2 emissions will be reduced annually thanks to this renewable energy system, demonstrating both businesses’ dedication to environmental responsibility.

Supplying Energy Needs in a Sustainable Way

In line with the UAE’s larger decarbonisation goals, the project will provide about 30% of Al Masaood Energy’s anticipated electricity needs. The company’s commitment to promoting sustainable practices and creating a more environmentally friendly industrial landscape in the area is demonstrated by this project.

Views of Leaders on the Collaboration

The importance of these partnerships was underlined by Hamady SY, Managing Director of TotalEnergies Renewables Distributed Generation for the Middle East & Africa:

“With this solar installation, we are pleased to assist Al Masaood Energy in its shift to green energy. These kinds of collaborations are crucial to attaining sustainable growth and advancing the UAE’s net-zero objectives.

Likewise, Al Masaood Energy’s general manager, Dr. Ahmad El Tannir, was excited about the collaboration:

“To meet our mid- and long-term industrial power needs with a sustainable footprint, we are thrilled to partner with TotalEnergies, a leader in the UAE’s renewable energy sector, in keeping with our vision to support the nation’s decarbonisation efforts.”

Supporting the Strategic Environmental Goals of the United Arab Emirates

This partnership supports the UAE’s goals set forward at COP28 in November 2023, where the nation pledged to achieve 50% decarbonisation by 2030. The collaboration between Al Masaood Energy and TotalEnergies shows how teamwork can hasten the achievement of sustainable objectives by combining government programs with private-sector knowledge.

This project demonstrates how renewable energy solutions may revolutionise the development of a sustainable future for Abu Dhabi and beyond.
