The Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) will now only be powered by renewable energy thanks to a partnership between the Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) and ADNEC Group, marking a revolutionary step towards sustainability. Through this partnership, ADNEC becomes the first and biggest event space in the Middle East to implement a completely clean energy model, establishing a standard for sustainable practices in the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry in the United Arab Emirates.
A Strategic Alliance for Renewable Energy
The ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi will now get all of its electricity from EWEC’s renewable energy sources thanks to this important agreement. Clean Energy Certificates (CECs), which are issued by the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy, attest to this transformation and guarantee that each kilowatt of energy delivered to the location is clean. The program demonstrates ADNEC’s commitment to lessening its environmental effect and emphasises its status as a world leader in environmentally friendly event planning.
Taking the Lead in Eco-Friendly Event Production
The CEO of EWEC, Othman Al Ali, stated his dedication to furthering the UAE’s renewable energy vision: “Our partnership with ADNEC Group to completely decarbonise their power consumption highlights our objective of expanding clean energy integration throughout the UAE.” By assisting organisations in reducing Scope 2 emissions, we are advancing the nation’s sustainability objectives. This project fits with Abu Dhabi’s larger clean energy goals in addition to showcasing ADNEC’s environmental agenda.
Promoting Industry Standards and Net-Zero Objectives
For the UAE’s efforts to achieve net-zero, this partnership marks a significant turning point. ADNEC’s dedication to sustainable energy sets an example for environmentally responsible behaviour in the world of international events held in Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi’s leadership in sustainable event solutions will be further cemented as a result of the agreement, which is expected to spur similar initiatives around the MICE industry.
