Plans to Expand Renewable Energy
One of the top engineering, procurement, and construction firms in the energy industry, NMDC Energy of Abu Dhabi, is aiming to increase the amount of renewable energy it offers in Southeast Asia and Europe.
Wind Energy Will Help With Future Revenues
In the upcoming years, wind energy is anticipated to account for as much as 20% of NMDC Energy’s overall earnings, according to CEO Ahmed Al Dhaheri. Due to the growing net-zero commitments from large energy companies, Europe in particular offers a lot of promise.
Strategic Collaborations and Partnerships
Al Dhaheri emphasized that multinational energy behemoths such as Total, Iberdrola, and EDF have explicit directives to increase the production of renewable energy, especially through offshore wind projects. He underlined that in order to take advantage of these chances, NMDC Energy is actively participating in European markets.
Masdar, a reputable renewable energy business based in Abu Dhabi, is a crucial strategic partner in this venture and is assisting NMDC Energy with its offshore wind expansion.
Infrastructure Investment for Offshore Wind
A significant investment of about $500 million is being made by NMDC Energy to construct a specialized offshore vessel for wind energy projects. This investment also includes purchasing vessels to construct interconnecting cables between offshore locations and jack-up barges to install wind turbine components.
Obstacles and Worldwide Market Patterns
According to consulting firm Wood Mackenzie, the offshore wind industry has had difficulties lately, with multiple projects delayed as a result of cost increases of 40–60%. Experts in the field, however, predict a revival in the field as new markets open up in Asia, Southern Europe, and the Baltic Sea.
Al Dhaheri expressed confidence in NMDC Energy’s feasibility studies and offshore wind installation skills, especially in the assembly of foundations, blades, and turbines, although acknowledging the complexity of market conditions.
Increasing Worldwide Presence
Operating in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Taiwan, and India, NMDC Energy is now listed on the Abu Dhabi stock exchange. The business is also looking into possible markets in North and West Africa, including initiatives in Iraq, Nigeria, and Libya.
The Al-Durra gas field project, a collaboration between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, is another project that NMDC Energy is interested in. As a symbol of its intention to grow further in Southeast Asia, the corporation keeps an office in Malaysia.
Significant Project Achievements and Financial Results
Taiwan Power Company (Taipower) awarded NMDC Energy a major contract this year for a subsea gas pipeline and power project valued at more than $1 billion. The company’s whole project pipeline value now stands at about $15 billion thanks to this purchase.
Saudi Arabia continues to be a significant market, accounting for 40% of the business’s earnings. Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Saudi Aramco are two of NMDC Energy’s biggest customers, and the company recently opened a $54 million facility to support both onshore and offshore projects.
Growth in Finance and Returns to Shareholders
NMDC Energy’s net profit increased by 80% in 2024, from AED 780 million to AED 1.406 billion. The company’s yearly revenues reached AED 14.44 billion, an 82% increase from the previous year.
Net profit for the fourth quarter of 2024 was AED 502 million, a 35% yearly increase. Revenue increased 57% from the previous year to a record AED 4.7 billion during the same time.
NMDC Energy recommended a cash dividend of AED 700 million, or 14 fils per share, for the 2024 fiscal year as part of its shareholder return strategy. The company’s general assembly meeting must approve the 50% dividend payment.
The fact that NMDC Energy’s shares increased by 0.35% to AED 2.85 on Friday shows that investors are confident in the company’s aggressive growth plan.
