Abu Dhabi IPO Targeted by Masdar-Backed Infinity Power

Abu Dhabi

Plans for Infinity Power’s IPO Are Revealed

Within the next three years, Infinity Power, a joint venture between Masdar, the leader in renewable energy in the United Arab Emirates, and Infinity, a company based in Egypt, is considering going public on the Abu Dhabi stock exchange. Mohamed Ismail Mansour, the company’s chairman, claims that this action is in line with market trends and the company’s growth goal.

In an interview, Mansour stated, “Abu Dhabi would be our first choice if we were to list today.” In a year or two, perhaps that will change. The way the markets develop will determine this.

Twenty to thirty percent of the company’s shares will be listed, and the possibility of issuing green bonds is also being considered.

Examining Various Market Choices

Infinity Power is keeping its choices open, even though Abu Dhabi is now the favored location. Listings in Dubai, Johannesburg, London, or Cairo are all being considered, the chairman disclosed. This multifaceted strategy shows the company’s desire to reach a wide spectrum of investors.

The GCC’s Record Year for IPOs

The prospective IPO would take place in a year when initial public offerings in the GCC established records. The region’s booming capital market was highlighted by the impressive $5.2 billion raised by 30 initial public offerings (IPOs) in the first nine months of 2024 alone.

Growing the Footprint of Renewable Energy

With a significant $5 billion investment, Infinity Power, which was founded in 2020, aims to reach 10 gigawatts (GW) of operational renewable energy capacity by 2030. The company now runs 1.3GW of wind and solar power plants in Senegal, South Africa, and Egypt.

New Advancements and Collaborations

Recent partnerships demonstrate Infinity Power’s commitment to growing clean energy initiatives. The business, Masdar, and Hassan Allam Utilities struck a historic agreement with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission business (EETC) in November to create 1.2GW of solar projects and 720MW of battery energy storage systems.

The business signed a power purchase deal in August for its 200 MW wind farm at Ras Ghareb, which is situated in the Gulf of Suez region of Egypt.

Energy-Driven Renewables in Africa and Beyond

The initiatives of Infinity Power are a part of a larger movement to hasten the adoption of renewable energy in emerging countries, including Africa. The company is well-positioned to play a significant role in the worldwide shift to sustainable energy thanks to its strategic alliances and lofty goals.
