In Aden, KSrelief and the UNDP Launch a Renewable Energy Project
RIYADH: To provide Yemeni women with renewable energy skills, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have launched a ground-breaking project in Aden. This program is a component of Saudi Arabia’s larger initiatives to promote sustainability and economic development in Yemen.
Education and Enterprise Growth in Solar Energy
The project’s main goal is to establish 375 small businesses that will produce and sell solar-powered home products, such as lights, stoves, and conventional ovens. It seeks to give 375 women practical life skills, business management, and fundamental understanding in solar energy consumption through practical vocational training. Participants will also receive instruction manuals on how to assemble and use solar-powered cookers and lamps.
Increasing Rural Communities’ Access to Solar Energy
This project will promote alternate solar energy sources, providing impoverished areas with necessary cooking and lighting options. The manufacturing of these solar gadgets will be driven by women-owned companies in Hadramout and Lahij, helping an estimated 21,375 women. The initiative seeks to alleviate energy scarcity while encouraging Yemeni women to become independent and enterprising.
Developing Women’s Sustainable Livelihoods
The initiative’s main objective, according to UNDP project manager Alaa Ali, is to provide energy to vulnerable populations while promoting economic opportunities for women. The campaign aims to increase the usage of renewable energy in homes and enhance living circumstances by encouraging more women to work in the solar energy industry.
Enhancing Social Development and Economic Prospects
The program will assist women in starting market-driven companies that meet the needs of the neighborhood, allowing them to make money and support economic growth. Additionally, it will improve their families’ quality of life and promote Yemen’s long-term development.
This initiative is a crucial part of Saudi Arabia’s continuous efforts to empower Yemeni women by giving them the tools and resources they need to succeed in the renewable energy sector.
