Muscat, Oman — January 2026 — A major $300 million crypto-mining project is set to transform the Gulf’s digital infrastructure landscape, as Abu Dhabi-based Phoenix Group partners with Green Data City to build one of the region’s largest mining facilities in Oman.
The project will feature a 150-megawatt crypto-mining farm designed to support large-scale blockchain operations, with full operations expected in the coming phase.
Experts believe the initiative reflects the Middle East’s growing focus on combining blockchain technology with sustainable infrastructure. While crypto mining is energy-intensive, Gulf nations are increasingly investing in advanced data centers and cleaner energy solutions to support digital economies.
This development highlights how the Middle East is positioning itself as a global leader in next-generation digital infrastructure and green technology.
